Thank you for your interest in volunteering. We are working on many projects at any one time and can always use your assistance. Whether you have time or resources to donate, your support is vital to our success.
Two ways to volunteer your time and skills
Become a Level 1 or Level 2 volunteer. Check out the levels of volunteering on the CPS website here.
Join a Wolfpack Committee
Please check out the Wolfpack Committee page where you can view all of our current projects!
Help out in the classroom or with other school projects
If you are interested in volunteering at Prescott including in the classroom or chaperoning a field trip, please complete a volunteer application form for a Level II volunteer and come into the office with a picture ID for a copy to be made and kept on file at Prescott. Click here to access the form in English or Spanish. If you’d like to volunteer to coach, please complete the process to be a level II volunteer which includes a TB test and fingerprinting. Call the office (773) 534-5505 for more details.
Volunteer Process and Definitions
Unfortunately, CPS for Volunteering does not accept LSC, Vendor, Field Experience, and outside fingerprints. LSC, beginning in July of 2018, stopped requiring DCFS as part of their background check, which is a requirement for us at volunteer programs
If you are in the process of level ONE volunteer clearance, please apply using a different email to be approved for level TWO clearance (in the meantime).
If you are already a volunteer at another CPS school, you must log into your Civicore profile and add Prescott to your profile. For instructions on how to add schools, please view this document.

Level II: volunteers must be in the line of sight of a CPS employee at all times and cannot be alone with students
- It takes 72 hours after school approval.
- Must apply and send a photocopy of their ID to mrutkelis@cps.edu
Level I: overnight trip clearance and can be alone with students (etc.)
Per the district’s volunteer policy, fingerprints/background checks are required EVERY school year.
Currently, CPS can add returning volunteers who ask to be added to the list to have their previous fingerprints rechecked. This will require them to submit a newly signed copy of the DCFS CANTS form once our background team has reached out to them. However, CPS cannot give a timeframe as to how long this recheck process can take as it is relatively new to this school year
Tb test clearance lasts 2 calendar years based on the date the test results were read to the volunteer.
SUBMIT THE RESULTS TO YOUR CIVICORE PROFILE
It takes around 3-30 days after the completion of the items listed below
Must apply and send a photocopy of their ID to mrutkelis@cps.edu
Then the system will send the next steps for the volunteer to
Get Fingerprinted (they will email you this form)
Take and submit the results of a TB test
