Congratulations to Prescott Principal Erin Roche, who received a Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools Program award from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. A small group of recipients are selected from a large number of nominees for their academic merit and leadership potential, and have the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.

Earlier this month, as part of the Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools program, Dr. Roche visited German schools and government agencies.

Stay tuned to the weekly Prescott school newsletter, where he is sharing insights from his trip in the weekly Prescott school newsletter like this:

“One of our German presenters shared an intriguing metaphor. He said that Germans might be like coconuts – hard to crack and get to know but then sweet once you get through the hard exterior. Americans, he said, are like peaches – warm and sweet on the outside but often hard to get to know personally for our avoidance of topics such as politics and religion. He quickly acknowledged the metaphor’s overgeneralization and then pushed us to move beyond our safety zones and to use inter-cultural exchanges to get to know each other as well as ourselves.  For our pluralistic Prescott and parts of the US, this is good advice: how do our cultures shape our interactions with each other? How do we perceive others and project ourselves – right or wrong? I’m learning a lot and eager to share with you more and to hear from you!”
